Project: Van der Hoorn - November 2011
Company:
Van der Hoorn growers  of Phalaenopsis orchids and Multiflora’s  is an advanced company in terms of technique. Proof of this is that they have first greenhouse in Holland, which is heated by only heatpumps.

Purpose of Project:

The “air” roots of orchids are growing out of  the pots, and  interfere the pots that surround them. This also indicates major problems with the automation and reduced the number of plants that can be placed in a container.

The problem can be solved by a collar on the pot. “Air” roots can only grow up and the  leaves are not sticking out anymore. And you can place now more pots in a container without risk of damage to the plant and the automation of such as spacing is easier. The easiest return on investment will be done by getting a lot more plants out of the same greenhouse.
